On Sunday, 27 September 2026, 58 businesswomen exercised their right to stand for election and vote in the process of forming the Administrative Board and the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the “Itqan” Businesswomen Incubator in Al-Shamayatayn District. Participants also discussed and approved the Incubator’s bylaws as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its governance and institutional development.

These outcomes were achieved during the second, closed session, following coordinated efforts involving the Taiz Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the core group of the Itqan Incubator, with the aim of strengthening the Incubator’s institutional structure and establishing effective mechanisms for participation, management, and oversight.

During the first, opening session, the participation of key stakeholders—including the District Director General, directors of relevant government offices, representatives of the commercial private sector, and financing institutions—reflected growing interest in the governance and development of the Incubator as an important contributor to local development and a promising platform for opportunities and partnerships.

The session was held as part of the project “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Al-Shamayatayn through Protection, Strengthening Civic Space, and Advocating for Economic Rights,” implemented by Al-Akhar Center for Peace and Development in partnership with Oxfam and funded by the European Union.

The activity forms part of the advocacy track for women entrepreneurs and women working in the private sector, contributing to stronger participation, more effective institutional structures supporting women-owned businesses, and expanded opportunities for cooperation and partnership with relevant stakeholders.
