Today marked the official launch of the Friends Alliance for Women Entrepreneurs and Women Working in the Private Sector in Al-Shamayatayn District, as part of the Launch Forum and as one of the tracks within the broader comprehensive advocacy efforts currently underway.

The Alliance serves as a community-based advocacy network that brings together women entrepreneurs and women working in the private sector with a wide range of stakeholders, including civil society organizations, private-sector representatives, media professionals, community leaders, and influential figures.

The Alliance was established on the basis of an organizational and ethical framework represented by the “Founding Protection Charter of the Friends Alliance for Women Entrepreneurs and Women Working in the Private Sector.” The Charter defines the Alliance’s identity, functions, structure, governing principles, and working mechanisms. It also emphasizes a commitment to voluntary action and coordinated efforts that contribute to creating a safe and protective environment in which women can work, be productive, and participate effectively.

As an organizational step, a “Facilitation Group” was formed from among the Alliance members to serve as a direct liaison with the activities of Al-Akhar Center for Peace and Development, and to manage and coordinate sustainable advocacy efforts.

As part of the approved agenda, the Project Manager presented a summary of focused approaches addressing the key constraints and challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and women working in the private sector. The presentation also analytically linked these challenges to the roles of advocates, identifying practical entry points for the planned advocacy activities.

The Forum was marked by the participation of key stakeholders, including Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani, Director General of Al-Shamayatayn District, and Dr. Olfat Al-Dubai, representing the Reconciliation and Social Peace Committee in Taiz Governorate. Both expressed their full support for the Alliance, its guiding principles, objectives, and future efforts.

The Launch Forum was held as part of the project “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Al-Shamayatayn through Protection, Strengthening Civic Space, and Advocating for Economic Rights,” implemented by Al-Akhar Center for Peace and Development in partnership with Oxfam and funded by the European Union.
